If the outbreak of identity theft has taught us anything, it's how important it is to keep personal info safe. I don't even share my passwords with The Lovely Mrs. Davis. Luckily a new survey shows that people are taking this problem very seriously...because the most common password is: password.
You have got to be freakin' kidding me.
The rest of the top 5: "123456," "12345678," "abc123" and "qwerty." (I actually like #6 -- "monkey" -- cause hey, who doesn't like monkeys?) Call me silly, but if the password to your bank account is 123456, you're begging for someone to steal your money.
The company who conducted the survey, Splash Data, did give some hints for creating better passwords:
