World Wide Day Of Play Is Saturday September 29th

The 6th annual World Wide Day of Play begins at 9am on Saturday, with free events and activities for the entire family until noon in multiple locations in and around uptown Normal. The Uptown Block Party begins on Beaufort Street, which will turn into one big playground at 11am. There will be more than 30 booths, stage activites, music, storytime, a bike rodeo, an appearance by WBNQ's Ray Wagner and more! 

The best part? Most of these events are FREE FREE FREE!!!!

Worldwide Day of Play is an annual event designed to encourage kids and parents to turn off the television and play, especially outdoors. The yearly event officially began on the Nickelodeon TV network in 2004.

Here are some of the WWDOP events you don't want to miss!

9 a.m. to Noon: Anderson Park, College Avenue, Normal
 
Normal and Bloomington Parks and Recreation are teaming up to provide everything from basketball and football to soccer shoots and an obstacle course. Add to that a bounce house, Bloomington Fencing Academy, Developing Melodies, Upper Limits and, of course, snacks! 
 
9 a.m. to Noon: YWCA McLean County, Hershey Rd. Bloomington
 
Enjoy high energy activities including Scholastic Sports Games, a book walk, bounce house, activities led by ISU PE Teacher Educators, plus demonstrations by the McLean County Misfits and a local kennel club.
 
9 a.m. to Noon
 
Autumnal Festival at ISU Horticultural Center, Raab Rd. Normal
 
Don't miss the 7th annual festival featuring games and crafts under the tent, a scavenger hunt, corn palace, corn maze, and hay rides.  Fees: $2 for ages 13+ $1 for ages 3-12, Free for ages 3 and under. Hay Rides are $1.00

The Children's Discover Museum will also be open with reduced admision of just $3 per person.
