#TBT Remember When We Gave Away A Wedding In A Week?

wedding in a week rings 2012

In 2012, I was part of a WBNQ promotion that changed my life. We gave away a wedding in a week! Let me tell you, there is a good reason we don’t do this anymore.

No, we didn’t stop because the marriage of Kim and Nate didn’t last (sad), but because it was sooooooooo crazy hard trying to get everybody together in a week, AND on Valentines day, to get married live on the radio in the early morning hours all dressed and spiffy. Heck no to doing it again, it was a miracle that we even pulled it off twice!

There were amazing gifts from the sponsors, with each wedding coming close to a $25,000.00 estimated value. Former promotions guru Michelle Bills (now Tackett) pulled magic from the last minute brides, grooms, families, and wedding suppliers. Trying to pull this off again without her gives me nightmares!

The great news is that because of WEDDING IN A WEEK, I officiated my first two wedding ceremonies live on WBNQ, and now it has become a part time hobby of mine, which I really enjoy! About 3 times a year I marry people in and around McLean County. Brides and grooms always start out sane, but rarely end their single status days that way, yet it is still fun to watch the big day come together beautifully. Which it always does!

Sorry if you were waiting for us to give away another one of these. Instead, come to the Double Tree this Sunday for our Dream Wedding Bridal Show to plan your own big day. Weddings take time (more than a week), and they don’t have to cost big bucks. Plus we are giving away gigantic prizes that you would sad to miss.

And if you need someone to help you say ‘I Do’, come give me nudge. I might be at your wedding after all!
