Study: ‘Ultra-Processed’ Foods Lead To Weight Gain

Researchers have confirmed what we already suspected was true – processed and ‘ultra-processed’ foods are leading to weight gain and other health issues.

A new study found that people with a diet consisting mainly of ‘ultra-processed’ foods – foods loaded with sugar, salt, and preservatives – tend to consume about 500 more calories per day than a diet of fresh, whole foods.  That adds up to an average gain of two pounds over the one-month study.

So how do you avoid ultra-processed foods?  Check the ingredient list – if it’s a long list of chemical-sounding ingredients, ditch it and grab something fresh instead.
