New Illinois Law Bans Smoking In Vehicles With Anyone Under 18

Beginning January 1st 2020, new laws will be implemented in the State of Illinois, one in particular will impact smokers who smoke in their vehicle’s with children under the age of 13.

According to a new bill, it will be illegal to inhale, exhale, burn or carry a lighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, weed, plant, regulated narcotic or other combustible substance in a motor vehicle containing a person under 18.

It doesn’t matter if the vehicle is in motion, or stopped, or even if the windows are rolled down. It will be illegal to smoke in a vehicle with children under 18.

Anyone who violates the new law will receive a maximum fine of $100 for the first offense. The second offense can be up to $250.

The new law will go into effect on January 1, 2020.
