Calling all 80s and 90s babies…Saved by the Bell is coming back and no, it has nothing to do with Taco Bell.
Back in the 90’s it was a hit show about lovable schemer Zack Morris and his friends at Bayside, cheerleader Kelly Kapowski, feminist Jessie Spanno, Fashion expert Lisa Turtle, Jock A.C. Slater, and nerd Screech. leads his pals on adventures at California’s Bayside High School. The friends navigate relationships, final exams, school dances, breakups and drugs (gasp), all while driving their principal, Mr. Belding, up the wall! It was full of drama, high school love, our first introduction to the cell phone, but overall the story that friendship can overcome anything, even fighting over girls.
Get this, Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez, aka Jessie Spano and A.C. Slater, are part of a reboot that is headed to the Peacock (NBC’s new streaming service) next year, so find your scrunchies and stone washed jeans because “I’m SOOO excited!”
According to a breakdown of the show, it’s a straight to streaming comedy, Zack Morris is the California’s governor in “hot water” for closing too many low income schools and sending those kids to “better” schools, insert Bayside High. No word on whether Mark Paul Gosselaar will actually appear on the show as Zack Morris, or if his character will just be talked about, he is also starring in the Black-ish spinoff, Mixed-ish that airs this fall.
BUT, we do know Elizabeth and Mario have officially signed on and will be playing parents of some of the kids.
Parents together? As in they got married? That is not the Bayside High relationship I want to know about. I want to know if Zack and Kelly are still together after their Vegas wedding??? Because in my mind they are…
