How To Fight The 1:29PM Energy Dip? Just Play This 60 Second Song!

You are not alone if you feel a big dip in energy levels around 1:29 PM each day.

A study of 2,000 adults currently working from home found more than a third are doing longer hours now than before the lockdown. As a result, more than half suffer from low energy levels by lunchtime.

Most people think what you ate for lunch or how much sleep you got the night before is the cause. Not true apparently, it is just natural circadian rhythms. Research reveals there is one major dip in energy and alertness when we need that dip most – during the hours between midnight and dawn, when most people sleep. And the second smaller dip, the postprandial dip or the secondary sleep gate happens between 1 and 4pm. The extent of this energy dip varies a bit with each person, but typically people experience an abrupt drop in alertness and concentration at this time.

But there is help, and it’s just 60 seconds long. The UK-based health lifestyle brand Swisse Me worked with music producer Paul Whitehead to create a hi-energy track that blends house music, techno, and drum ‘n’ bass.

This track, supported by a university professor of music at the University of West London, supposedly can help eradicate the lunchtime lull. Let’s try it out!

The professor said: “The blistering stomper is 140 beats per minute, packed full of early ’90s piano house motifs, an injection of hard house, and follows a skippy breakbeat pattern. Rave is primal and activates deep-seated brain regions that are used to process feelings of happiness and euphoria. … Music affects us so deeply, it activates more regions of the brain than any other stimulus and provides profound benefits to both our mind, body, and soul.”

Now this song won’t be a big hit on WBNQ, as it isn’t really fun to listen to, but does it work to fight the energy dip?
