Is The Fun Of TIK TOK Not Worth The Spying And Data Collection?

The Guy Who Reverse-Engineered TikTok Reveals The Scary Things He Learned

Reddit user “Bangorlol,” is claiming to have reverse-engineered the TikTok app and according to him, you should stay away from it.

He says as you’re making the latest TikTok video the app is secretly gathering information from your device.

Some of the intel TikTok is gathering includes phone hardware which consists of CPU type, screen dimensions, DPI, memory usage, and disk space.
The popular Chinese social app also takes notes of other apps you’ve downloaded and all network-related information.

GPS pinging is also happening once every 30 seconds, and as he describes it, there are “creepy old men” who have direct access to kids using the app.  TikTok requires that users be at least 13 years old to use the full TikTok experience, although there is a way for younger kids to access the app.

If you’re wondering how Tik Tok compares to other platforms, “Bangorlol” says he’s reverse-engineered other apps like Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter, and there is far less data being collected by them over TikTok.
