‘Cake Boss’ Buddy Valastro Injured in Horrific Bowling Accident

While bowling might not be considered a dangerous sport, you’d likely have a difficult time convincing Buddy Valastro of that. The celebrity baker is in the hospital, where he’s recovering from a horrific bowling accident that nearly cost him his hand.

The accident occurred during a recent trip to a bowling alley when Valastro tried to jar loose a pin setter that had become stuck, according to a rep for the Food Network. Valastro’s hand became lodged and was impaled by the device, the rep says. “Unable to remove his hand, he can see a 1 1/2 inch metal rod slowly and repeatedly impale his hand three times between his ring finger and middle finger,” the spokesperson says. After rescuers cut through the metal rod to free Valastro, he underwent surgery at a New Jersey hospital, the 43-year-old “Cake Boss” star confirms. Doctors say he’ll need “months” of recovery time and therapy before his hand is healed.
