The new PlayStation 5 is changing things around on its controller, swapping the functions of the X and O buttons.
This will be a streamlined, so controller configurations will be the same worldwide.
In Japan, PlayStation controllers have used the X buttons to cancel and the O buttons to confirm. Western gamers have had the opposite, X to confirm, O to cancel up to this point. The new PlayStation model will revert back to how the controllers are used in Japan.
I am currently playing all of the Tomb Raider games on PS4, and I am NOT excited about the controller change because my hand muscle memory says to ‘JUMP’ with the X! This will make the gaming experience with a brand new system very confusing. AND with a XMAS shopping season battle of the new PS5 vs the new XBOX, (who didn’t change their controller) this could tilt some fans away from the PS5.
The PlayStation 5 will be released November 12th. Learn how about prices and how to pre-order yours HERE.
