Trevor Noah leaving ‘The Daily Show’ after 7 years
Comedian Trevor Noah, host of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, said he was going to leave the program after hosting it for seven years, hinting he wanted to dedicate more time to stand-up comedy. This video clip was posted to make his departure announcement:
“I spent two years in my apartment (during COVID-19), not on the road. Stand-up was done, and when I got back out there again, I realized that there’s another part of my life that I want to carry on exploring,” Noah told his studio audience late on Thursday.
Comedy Central said in a statement that the network had been working with Mr. Noah “for a long time to figure out how he can maintain the demanding schedule.” The network added that “with no timetable for his departure, we’re working together on next steps.”
James Corden said in April that he would leave his nightly show on CBS next year. Samantha Bee, an alum of “The Daily Show,” announced that her show would not return to TBS in the fall. And last year, Conan O’Brien said goodbye to his late-night show on TBS. Now Trevor is saying goodbye too.
