Britney Spears Inspired Musical To Leave Broadway

Britney Spears Musical to Close on Broadway in September

Once Upon a One More Time opened at the Marquis Theatre in NYC on June 22 and was listed for being the first fully authorized and licensed agreement by a post-conservatorship Britney Spears.

The show retells classic fairy tales through a modern-day lens using the music of Ms. Spears. Britney herself, is not portrayed in this show.

Reviews were mixed, and some called it confusing, as a similar jukebox musical & Juliet — featuring the music of Max Martin, who wrote some of Spears’ greatest hits — opened on Broadway months earlier. By the time Once Upon a One More Time premiered, & Juliet had already played with many hearts and got lost in all kinds of games, to the tune of nine Tony nominations, including Best Musical.

The two musicals even shared a few Britney songs in common, namely “…Baby, One More Time,” “Stronger,” and “Oops!… I Did It Again.”

So this show will play “one more time” on Broadway September 3rd for a final curtain call, but it rumored to working on a national tour and international dates to be announced soon!
