Ticketmaster has updated its pricing policy to align with a Federal Trade Commission rule that came into effect on Monday. The new policy ensures that all fees are included upfront in the ticket price, putting customers first. The rule mandates transparent pricing practices for live event ticket vendors, hotels, and rentals. This move puts the company in compliance with the Biden administration ban on “junk fees.”
Ticketmaster plans to intensify its efforts against ticket bots, which are known to prevent fans from acquiring the tickets at their original price point.
Ticketmaster also introduced a new waiting que for high-demand events. This queue shows users their exact place in line, preventing bots from unfairly acquiring tickets by jumping ahead of real people. The page automatically refreshes as users move up in the queue, with real-time updates on availability and pricing. Customers receive notifications when it’s their turn to purchase, either through app alerts or browser chimes.
The U.S. Department of Justice has sued Ticketmaster and Live Nation for allegedly running an illegal monopoly that inflates ticket prices, with a case ongoing. President Donald Trump has also taken steps to address ticket scalping and price transparency in the live events industry.
