The MTV Video Music Award nominations have been announced, with 33 first-time nominees and notable snubs.
Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are up for artist of the year despite not releasing music videos during the eligibility period.
Bruno Mars received 11 nominations for collaborations, while some standout music videos like BigXthaPlug and Bailey Zimmerman’s “All The Way” and Mariah the Scientist’s “Burning Blue” were overlooked. Blackpink’s Lisa only received one nomination despite hit videos, and The Weeknd’s “Dancing in the Flames” video was snubbed despite its popularity.
