TikTok is all the rage with Gen Z right now, but could the popular app soon be dethroned?
First reported by The Information and confirmed by NBC News, YouTube is currently developing a rival short-form video platform called Shorts.
The feature would be built into the existing YouTube app, linking to music already hosted by the streaming giant. While the other social media sites have explored the idea, including Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, YouTube seems to be the first to take on TikTok directly.
