Joey Chestnut Wins Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest For 15th Time
Blazing fast hot dog eater Joey “Jaws” Chestnut on Monday captured his 15th title at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Chestnut easily defeated his opponents by scarfing down 63 hot dogs — and buns — at the event. His nearest competitor, Geoffrey Esper, got through 47½ hot dogs. On the women’s side, former champ Miki Sudo, who skipped last year’s event because she was pregnant, won by downing 40 dogs.
Although Chestnut’s count of 63 was more than enough to earn him a victory on Monday, it falls short of his record of 76, which he set during last year’s competition. Sudo also fell short of her record of 48 1/2 hot dogs, set in 2020.
What Joey did not anticipate this year. was a person invading his competition space to attention for their cause. He briefly head-locked “Vader” until the intruder was removed from the stage, and kept eating his way to victory. Take a look!
