Trendy clothing chain Forever 21 could be the next victim of the retail apocalypse.

According to reports, the chain is considering filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in response to flagging sales.  The hope is that most of the chain’s 800 locations could remain open, at least for now.

2019 has been a grim year for retail, with major brands like J.C. Penney and Walgreens closing stores, while other chains like Payless and Dressbarn have shut down completely.
