After relentlessly teasing fans, Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy are expected to announce their joint “Hella Mega” tour on Tuesday.
The series of clues leading up to the expected announcement began when Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong responded to an Instagram post by actor Rainn Wilson with the words “Hella Mega,” tagging Weezer’s Mario Cuomo and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz. Soon after, fans began receiving T-shirts from the groups’ management company, Crush Music, that featured a photo of one of the bands, with the name of another over it.
Any remaining murkiness was cleared up when a video surfaced in which Armstrong, wearing a shirt with the logos of the other two bands, performs “Wake Me Up When September Ends” — replacing the lyrics with “Wake me up on September 10th.”
